About Sneha
Cultural Initiatives
Education for Women Sneha has hosted and sponsored several seminars and dialogues for the community in the following areas:
- Financial Planning
- Long term Care
- Estate Tax Planning
- Women's Health
- Domestic Violence - we invited a local police officer, specializing in domestic violence in the Greater Hartford area, to educate us on issues and matters related to domestic violence.
Book Readings Sneha uses book readings as a medium to inform ourselves of the experiences of people in the community and to learn from them. We organize several book readings a year. The books we have chosen to read have dealt with a variety of issues such as experiences of other ethnic and immigrant groups and issues of race and ethnicity. We have also read books written by South Asian authors, to gain a perspective on our literature and our history.
Readings in Public Libraries Sneha has organized readings at the Farmington and Windsor Public Libraries for audiences who are interested in South Asian Literature. “Telling Passages” is one such program where our members read excerpts from South Asian prose and poetry.
